Sim Practise

The Sim Practise scheme is a peer support initiative that is run by pilots for pilots, to help enhance flying skills and confidence. Everyone involved in the scheme volunteers their own time to support their colleagues, and simulator availability is very limited.  If this is your first time using the scheme, please read the scheme T&Cs and FAQs so you understand the spirt and restrictions of the scheme.  If you are interested in volunteering to help please read the SPO FAQs for more information about the process.  Sim space is at a premium, so please only book a sim session below if you are sure you can attend, and not on tass or reserve.

Booking Process

Step 1 - Find available slots & send an SPO email request:

Select the simulator slot(s) you can attend and then complete the SPO request form, which will be sent to all SPOs on your fleet.

When you have a volunteer SPO reply and confirm they can help, you will then need to complete step 2 to book your sim slot.

SPOs will normally only reply if they can help. Practising pilots can only use sim practise on their own fleet. SPOs volunteer in their own time and at their own traveling costs, please bear this in mind.

The calendar will only show slots within the next 30 days. It is not possible to make same day booking requests.

Note: Do not use the Sim Practise facility to book sim visits for friends and family.  See F&F booking info on the SPO help page.

Step 1 - Find a sim slot & request an SPO

Step 2 - Make a sim booking request:

Once you have a volunteer SPO for a sim slot, you can now make a booking request.

Complete step 2 of the booking process; select the sim slot your SPO has volunteered for and enter the SPO 5 letter FICO code, and the codes of every pilot in the booking.

Once you have submitted the request, please allow 3 working days for a reply.  The Sim Practise team consists of just five line pilots making the bookings in their spare time between trips.

Note: The pilot making the booking must confirm they have read the T&C of the scheme and agree to comply with them. Abuse will result in a minimum of disqualification from the scheme.

If you have any questions please view the FAQs.

Step 2 - Make your booking

Step 3 - View your booking status:

You have confirmed booking once the slot shows confirmed on the 'view your booking' page.

This can take up to 3 working days to show after you have submitted your request.

Once the booking has been processed you will also receive a booking confirmed email and booking ref number.

Once you have a confirmed booking, the SPO (or Pilot 1) can add/remove pilots in the booking via the 'view your booking' option.  If needed Pilot 1 can also change the name of the SPO via this page.

Note: To amend the booking time please email the team and include the booking ref number and the SPO FICO code.  The cancellation process is outlined below.

Step 3 - View your booking

Cancellation Process

Please follow the below process:

1. The SPO must contact the sim engineers directly to cancel their slot, this is for all cancellations regardless of the notice period. This will immediately release the slot in the British Airways system for others to use.

2. Please also email [email protected] with the SPO five letter code, slot date/time, fleet and the booking ref number. We will then cancel the slot in our Customer First team system and update your account. Please confirm in the email if you have successfully cancelled the slot with the sim engineers.

If you would like to move the date of your sim practise booking, or request to move your slot to a different sim, then please follow the above cancellation policy and resubmit a new booking request.
